2011- A New Year with New Possibilities

by troyahyo on January 18, 2011

Wow, is it already Jan. 18th??
2011 is a whirlwind so far. I have been caught up and dragged into the new year with demands on multiple fronts.

Questions that swirl around and objectives that need to be fulfilled.
What seems to be the over-whelming statements that businesses are making right now?

“Get me customers, do it quickly and don’t charge me  much!”

So to that end, how can that simply stated challenge be solved?

1. “Get me customers” - This requires anywhere from minimal to the proverbial “gobs of work” to achieve. On the minimal side, perhaps a reasonable website that is designed so your customers are called to action (e.g. Call us today and mention this website and we will give you 10% off your next order) and an accurate / complete google record for their “Local Businesses” pin-drop map.
On the “gobs of work” side, if your business is in a highly competitive niche (like real estate, law, or accountants), one that has 15 pages of ads in the yellow pages, you will need a whole bunch of work done by someone who really knows what they are doing. This is going to cost you. But relative to the $2000 a month you pay for you yellow page ad, a great internet marketing campaign will deliver leads. I guarantee it.

2. “Do it Quickly” - Managing a client’s expectations is essential here. Don’t promise what you can’t achieve. Especially when it comes down to how fast you are going to begin delivering new prospects.

3. “Don’t charge me much” - Your goal should be to work with clients who appreciate marketing and spending the money necessary to generate  a stream of prospective customers. DO NOT try to convince a client that marketing and advertising is essential to their business. You  are wasting your time. Work with clients who have large ads in the yellow pages, have billboards, radio commercials, etc. These are the companies that will value and appreciate your efforts and pay you what you are worth.

Now the question for marketers out there is - “Do you  have the tools and processes to successfully achieve the goal of delivering a constant stream of new prospective customers for your clients via the internet?”
